Theatrical productions are banned.
April 11, 1750
General Court condemns the productions as “tending to increase immortality, impiety and contempt of religion.” After being reenacted in 1784, the ban is effectively lifted, over the objections of Gov. Hancock, in 1793, but the law does not expire until 1797.
